STERN* aka Julien Imperatrice began as a DJ in the early 2000s. He is a musician as well as a music producer. He is interested in the business aspect of the music industry while mixing under the nickname of Julastic in the Parisian scene. He is the resident DJ at Cafe Cheri(e) in Paris where he plays with Miss ill and where he discovered one of his main influences, Para One.

STERN* grew up in France, Spain and Lebanon. One day, prompted by curiosity, he decided to fly to North America. In August of 2004, he moved to Montreal to dedicate himself exclusively to music production and created his first training Karmasoma with Jazz musicians from the University of Montreal.

He is particularly known as a producer, and organized the TASTE: CHOCO ELECTRO night who rage in Montreal. As an artist, he performs live with the popular group Gloomy. He plays with Gloomy at the New Cinema Festival and Nujaz alongside Diplo and Artist of the Year.

His talent for music production has allowed him to share the stage with Beast, Pheek, Orange Orange, Leonard de Leonard, Misteur Valaire, Frivolous, Ark et Mossa. In 2006, he created a techno-opera workshop with the singers of the Opera of Montreal.

In the Summer of 2007, he composed the several songs for his project STERN*, sampling both rock and hip hop. It was at this time that he released his debut album Difunkstruction. Soon after the release, the album gained recognition in Germany, where he produced two EPs under the label Big Mamas Records: Hot and burning and Starblast. The vinyl version was released in early 2009.

Passionate about music production, he regularly remixes artists such as Major Lazer, Omnikrom, Phoenix, MIA and NASA. His remixes receive buzz on the blogosphere like DJ Vadim, are playlisted on Ninja Tunes (Solid Steel). He is inspired by Mr Oizo, Para-one, Crookers and Designer Drugs and he adds a personal touch which is very popular with Electro-Lovers.

Recognized by the label of Leonard de Leonard Leonizer Records, he proposes to release his second album, Digital Bless, in early 2010. This album mixes both minimal techno rhythms and also complex compositions. Stern*, whose style has matured over the years, is obcessed with perfecting sounds with keyboards and producing powerful beats to deliver his unique sound.

There are great opportunities to see him perform a live-set this spring in Paris, Lyon, Berlin and Lausanne.

Other dates are pending for this European Tour and he is also involved with other promising projects such as Wizestar.
